A tiny two-game NHL slate doesn’t mean a tiny betting menu. Buffalo is taking the favorite money, the Rangers are the sharper side move, and the best prop board is loaded with Thompson, McAvoy, Fox, Lafreniere, Tavares, and Tuch angles. Here are the sharpest and most popular NHL bets for Wednesday night.
BEST MONEY LINE BETS
New York Rangers ML (-120)
The sharpest straight side in NHL today. The market moved the Rangers from roughly pick’em/opening coin-flip territory into the -120/-125 range on the attached odds board, and that move lines up with the broader market consensus showing New York as the side that attracted respect.
BEST PUCK LINE BETS
Buffalo Sabres -1.5 (+120)
Our favorite plus-money puck line today. Boston is on a back-to-back, Buffalo is trending like the better and fresher club, and Wednesday card also landed on Sabres -1.5 as one of the best prices on the board.
BEST 1st PERIOD BETS
NY Rangers vs Toronto Maple Leafs,1st Period Draw (+180)
The lower-event setup makes the most interesting opening-20 wager With both teams ranking poorly in five-on-five chance generation this month and both goaltenders entering in decent form, the tie-after-one route is attractive.
BEST GAME TOTAL BETS
Rangers vs. Maple Leafs Under 6.5 (-130)
The best total on the board is the top play for the matchup, Rotowire also leaned under, and the attached screen shows why this market is tricky: public money appeared to like the over, but the number itself compressed from 6.5 toward 6, which is usually not a friendly sign for over bettors.
Bruins vs. Sabres Under 6.5 (-108)
The next-best total is , Buffalo has cashed under in 5 of its last 6, and the odds screen showed that Bruins-Sabres opened with under juice and largely stayed around the 6.5 band.
BEST GOALKEEPER PROPS
Igor Shesterkin (Rangers) UNDER 25.5 Saves (-125)
This is the one prop bucket where I’d rather be disciplined than force action. Accessible feeds did not reliably surface a widely posted March 25 save prop for Igor Shesterkin (Rangers), and the goalie menu looked inconsistent across searchable sources. Our favorite goalie-backed angle is still Rangers vs. Maple Leafs Under 6.5 (-130) with Shesterkin and Joseph Woll driving the handicap.
Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen (Sabres) UNDER 24.5 Saves (-125)
For Buffalo Pekka Luukkonen, was flagged as the likely starter and carries strong recent form since the break, which only reinforces the Bruins-Sabres under rather than a forced save prop.
BEST PLAYER PROPS
Charlie McAvoy (Bruins) Over 0.5 Assists (-105)
The best defenseman prop is highlighted, his 24 points in the last 20 games, with 18 assists, and his recent success in heavy-minute spots.
Adam Fox (Rangers) Over 0.5 Points (-130). The cleanest Rangers prop is liked by many bettors today, while SI also flagged Fox’s playmaking with a separate assist angle.
Alexis Lafreniere (Rangers) Over 0.5 Points (-135)
The best recent-form winger prop is hot, after 10 points in his last 9 games and a strong recent history versus softer defensive teams.
BEST GOAL SCORER PROPS
The most popular Sabres scorer is Tage Thompson (Sabres) Anytime Goal (+125). Bleacher Nation listed him at +125 among the top anytime-goal prices for Wednesday, while other same-day previews had him in the +130 range.
The best Buffalo value scorer is Alex Tuch (Sabres) Anytime Goal (+175).
He showed up both in SI’s anytime-goal card and Bleacher Nation’s goal-scorer list at a very playable plus-money number.
The best Rangers-side goal scorer is Mika Zibanejad (Rangers) Anytime Goal (+145). He appeared on Bleacher Nation’s Wednesday scorer board and also fits the recent-form angle with five goals in his last 10.
The best Leafs scorer number is John Tavares (Maple Leafs) Anytime Goal (+180). He’s the Toronto scorer I’d target first if you want exposure to the home side.
BEST ASSIST PROPS
The best plus-money assist prop is Adam Fox (Rangers) Over 0.5 Assists (+100).
This one is singled it out as one of the best Wednesday NHL prop plays.
BEST PLAYER POINTS PROPS
Josh Norris (Sabres) Over 0.5 Points (-109)
The sneaky Sabres point add-on is used it in the same-game parlay build for Bruins-Sabres, but accessible sources did not surface a reliable standalone price I’d quote as exact.
2️⃣BEST 2-LEG PARLAY OF THE DAY🔢
Buffalo Sabres ML (-200) + New York Rangers ML (120)
Approximate odds +175, means $100 bet = $275 payout
This is the cleanest sides-only parlay on the slate, and our same-day card landed on essentially this exact two-leg combo at +275
3️⃣BEST 3-LEG PARLAT OF THE DAY🔢
Buffalo Sabres ML (-200) +
Bruins vs. Sabres Under 6.5 (-108) +
Rangers vs. Maple Leafs Under 6.5 (-130)
Approximate odds +411, means $100 bet = $511 payout
If you want the highest-probability three-piece build, this is the one: favorite plus the two totals most consistently supported by same-day analysis.
4️⃣BEST 4-LEG PARLAY OF THE DAY🔢
Buffalo Sabres ML (-200) +
Bruins vs. Sabres Under 6.5 (-108) +
Rangers vs. Maple Leafs Under 6.5 (-130) +
New York Rangers ML (-120)
Approximate odds +837, means $100 bet = $937 payout
2️⃣BEST 2-LEG PLAYER PROPS PARLAY OF THE DAY🔢
Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen (Sabres) UNDER 24.5 Saves (-125)
+ Adam Fox (Rangers) Over 0.5 Points (-115)
Approximate odds +236, means $100 bet = $336 payout
This is my favorite prop parlay because it combines one elite volume bet with one strong floor point prop, and both were directly supported by same-day research
