MLB Best Bets and Props for Wednesday April 15 2026
Share

A full betting guide for the 11-game MLB slate on April 15, 2026, featuring the top moneyline picks, run line angles, first five innings plays, and total projections.

This breakdown highlights key pitching edges, including matchups such as Shota Imanaga against the Phillies and Bryce Elder’s strong form, while also identifying valuable player props across the board.

It also includes a detailed home run parlay built around Aaron Judge, Brandon Lowe, and Matt Olson, targeting high-upside value for the day’s action.

BEST MONEY LINE BETS

🎯 Chicago Cubs +118 (vs. Philadelphia Phillies, 6:40 PM ET)

Shota Imanaga takes the mound in what could be the single most exploitable left-handed pitcher matchup of the day. The Cubs’ ace is currently sitting on a 2.81 ERA with elite command and swing-and-miss stuff, and he draws a Philadelphia Phillies offense that has hit a staggering .171 against left-handed starters this season — one of the worst splits in all of baseball. Tony’s Picks specifically identifies this matchup as value, and the odds board backs it up: Chicago carries 59% of the sharp money on the line despite only 50% of tickets, a classic steam indicator that the sharps are on the Cubs. Jesus Luzardo is a capable pitcher, but asking a left-hander to dominate another left-hander’s lineup on this day is a tough ask. Getting Imanaga at plus money feels like an oversight by the market.

🎯 Detroit Tigers -118 (vs. Kansas City Royals, 6:40 PM ET)

Jack Flaherty takes a loaded Detroit offense into this matchup, and the Tigers have hit .283 at home with a .497 home slugging percentage, supported by a home bullpen ERA of 1.31. The Royals’ Seth Lugo, while competent, is going up against a Tigers team that has been especially dangerous in the Comerica Park environment. Kansas City has been hitting just .178 on the road — a significant split — making Flaherty’s assignment far easier than the line suggests

🎯Tampa Bay Rays ML (-110) (vs. Chicago White Sox, 7:40 PM ET)

The Rays catching a break against one of the worst teams in baseball is almost automatic value. Jesse Scholtens takes the hill against Sean Burke and a White Sox club that is mired deep in the AL Central basement. The odds board shows Tampa Bay as a -108 to -120 favorite, and 55% of sharp money is backing the Rays. The Rays’ lineup features legitimate weapons top to bottom, particularly Junior Caminero batting second and Yandy Diaz — who is hitting .365, third-best average in all of baseball — batting cleanup.

BEST RUN LINE BETS

Atlanta Braves -1.5 (+125) (vs. Miami Marlins, 7:15 PM ET)

Play Atlanta on the run line at -1.5 runs (+125). Elder’s elite form combined with Paddack’s 6.14 ERA and a Marlins lineup so thin that they are sending Jakob Marsee, Xavier Edwards, and Otto Lopez at the top of the order creates a recipe not just for a win, but a comfortable multi-run victory. Getting +125 to lay 1.5 runs with the best team in the majors and the game’s hottest pitcher is a gift.

Pittsburgh Pirates -1.5 (vs. Washington Nationals, 6:40 PM ET)

The case for Pittsburgh to cover the run line flows entirely through Jake Irvin’s misery. The Nationals’ starter carries a 7.07 ERA in just 14 innings, has already surrendered three home runs, and ranked as the MLB leader in home runs allowed last season with 38. His xERA sits around 5.50 per The Lines, and facing a Pirates lineup loaded with dangerous left-handed bats — Cruz, Lowe, Reynolds, O’Hearn, Spencer Horwitz — is a nightmare scenario. Pittsburgh projects to score early and often. The run line payout depends on your book but typically sits around -115 to +105, making it quality value.

Los Angeles Dodgers -1.5 (+132) (vs. New York Mets, 10:10 PM ET)

Shohei Ohtani pitching at home in Dodger Stadium with the Dodgers lineup behind him is perhaps the most formidable combination in baseball. Clay Holmes for the Mets is serviceable, but the Dodgers have a lineup capable of putting up five to seven runs on any given night. PillarLab via Reddit specifically called LAD -1.5 at +132 as one of the best bets on the board. Getting plus money to take the best team in the NL to win by two or more with Ohtani starting is tremendous value.

New York Yankees -1.5 (+105) (vs. Los Angeles Angels, 7:05 PM ET)

With Kochanowicz’s xERA of 6.08 and the Yankees’ left-handed power, the Bronx Bombers don’t just project to win — they project to win big. Luis Gil is more than capable of holding the Angels’ lineup down for five-plus innings, and a Angels team that has struggled to generate offense sets up perfectly for a New York blowout. The run line is around -115 on most books, making it excellent compared to paying -188 on the straight moneyline.

BEST 1st 5 INNINGS BETS

🎯Atlanta Braves First 5 Innings Run Line -115 (vs. Miami Marlins, 7:15 PM ET)

Bryce Elder’s 1.02 ERA and 1.02 WHIP represent arguably the best current form of any starting pitcher in the National League. In 5 innings against a lineup this weak, Elder should limit damage to near-zero while the Braves — led by Ronald Acuña Jr., Matt Olson, and Austin Riley — have every chance to score two or three runs off Paddack early. The F5 moneyline typically comes in around -145, which is more favorable than the full game -162 given the bullpen risk is removed entirely.

🎯Toronto Blue Jays First 5 Innings ML -120 (vs. Milwaukee Brewers, 7:40 PM ET)

Dylan Cease is a legitimate ace-level pitcher known for generating swings and misses and inducing weak contact. Against a Brewers lineup lacking a true middle-of-the-order threat — Sal Frelick, Brice Turang, William Contreras — Cease should command the first five innings effectively. This game has the lowest total on the board at 7.5, indicating both pitchers are expected to dominate. The F5 bet removes Chad Patrick’s bullpen risk from the equation and gives Toronto the edge they need

🎯Pittsburgh Pirates First 5 Innings Run Line -125 (vs. Washington Nationals, 6:40 PM ET)

Mason Montgomery’s opposite-hand matchup doesn’t hurt Pittsburgh’s cause — the Pirates lineup has enough left-handed firepower at the top to make Irvin’s life miserable before the game even reaches the middle innings. Montgomery as a left-hander is well-suited to contain the Nationals’ lineup, while Irvin will bleed runs early against Cruz, Lowe, and Reynolds. Getting Pittsburgh at a slight discount for 5 innings in a lopsided pitching matchup makes excellent sense

🎯 New York Yankees First 5 Innings Run Line -137 (vs. Los Angeles Angels, 7:05 PM ET)

Luis Gil has been quality this season and gets a favorable matchup against an Angels lineup that’s been inconsistent at best. The first five innings keeps you away from any potential bullpen volatility, and Kochanowicz’s regression tendencies suggest the Yankees will post runs early. Given the total is set at 10.5 on this game — highest on the board — the over/under reflects both teams expected to combine for fireworks, but with the Angels’ weak offense, that burden falls squarely on New York’s bat.

BEST GAME TOTAL BETS

↕️ New York Mets @ Los Angeles Dodgers — UNDER 8 (10:10 PM ET)

When two elite starting pitchers face off, you trust the arms. Shohei Ohtani at Dodger Stadium is the most imposing pitching proposition in baseball, and Clay Holmes — while not at Ohtani’s level — is a legitimate strikeout pitcher who limits traffic. The total sits at 8 on most books, and the odds board shows 90% of tickets going toward the Under with 83% of the money following. That’s one of the clearest betting signals on the entire board

↕️ Colorado Rockies @ Houston Astros — OVER 8.5 (8:10 PM ET)

This is the most compelling over on the board. Jose Quintana is a soft-tossing lefty returning from injury, and Yordan Alvarez has crushed left-handed pitching to a 1.094 OPS since 2024. Spencer Arrighetti for Houston is inconsistent — hitting the strikeout Over in just 2 of his last 5 starts. The Colorado bullpen was forced in after just 8 outs on Tuesday and may be depleted, while the Houston bullpen has struggled as well. Covers.com calls this “potentially the highest-scoring game on the slate” with a pair of questionable starters in front of struggling bullpens.

↕️Miami Marlins @ Atlanta Braves — UNDER 8.5 at -122 (7:15 PM ET)

Elder’s dominance is the primary engine here. The Marlins are not expected to do much against his 1.02 ERA, and while Paddack has been hittable, Atlanta’s bullpen is strong enough to preserve leads. The Braves-Marlins Under 8.5 at -122 as one of the best bets of the day. The Marlins simply cannot generate enough offense to push this total over.

↕️Tampa Bay Rays at Chicago White Sox OVER 8 (-110)

↕️San Francisco Giants at Cincinnati Reds OVER 9 (-120)

BEST TEAM TOTAL BETS

🎯 Pittsburgh Pirates Team Total Over 4.5 (-130)

This is arguably the safest team total bet on the board. Jake Irvin’s 7.07 ERA, his MLB-leading 38 home runs surrendered in 2025, and his horrific splits against left-handed batters (.286 BA, .554 SLG, 2.32 HR/9 versus LHBs per The Lines) create a meat grinder situation for Pittsburgh’s lineup. The Pirates bat Cruz, Lowe, Reynolds, and O’Hearn at the top — four left-handed or switch hitters. Even at only 5 runs, the Pirates should eclipse this total against one of the most hittable pitchers in the game.

🎯Houston Astros Team Total OVER 4.5 (vs. Jose Quintana/COL, 8:10 PM ET)

Houston’s lineup featuring Carlos Correa, Yordan Alvarez, Isaac Paredes, and Christian Walker is built for high-scoring nights, and Jose Quintana — returning from injury with soft stuff — is the type of arm this Astros lineup feasts on. Houston is the most dangerous lineup in this series. Add Colorado’s depleted bullpen after a short outing Tuesday night and the Astros’ over 4.5 becomes even more appealing.

Atlanta Braves Team Total OVER 4.5 (-120) vs. MIA | 7:15 PM ET)

With Chris Paddack carrying a 6.14 ERA and giving up runs to both sides of the plate, the Braves — who are ranked the top team in the majors by advanced metric

New York Yankees Team Total OVER 5.5 (-130) (vs. Jack Kochanowicz/LAA, 7:05 PM ET)

The Yankees lineup — Judge, Rice, Bellinger, Stanton, Chisholm — is one of the most powerful collections of hitters in the American League. Against Kochanowicz’s 6.08 xERA and 12.2% barrel rate allowed, the Yankees’ lineup should generate multiple extra-base hits and run-scoring opportunities

BEST NRFI (NO Run in First Inning)

🎯  New York Mets @ Los Angeles Dodgers — NRFI (-123) (10:10 PM ET)

Shohei Ohtani is the single most dominant first-inning pitcher in baseball. His combination of a mid-high 90s fastball, devastating splitter, and elite slider makes him virtually untouchable in the opening frame, and the Mets lineup — Clay Holmes leads off for New York, meaning a lineup featuring players like Francisco Alvarez and others who have struggled — is not going to generate a first-inning run against him. On the other side, Holmes is a legitimate strikeout pitcher who should navigate the Dodgers’ first-inning order cleanly. The total sits at just 8, the second-lowest on the board, and 90% of the ticket money is leaning toward the Under — all signs pointing to a scoreless first inning for both sides.

BEST RFI (Run SCORED in First Inning YES)

Texas Rangers @ Athletics — RFI YES (-130) (9:40 PM ET)

The Athletics entered Wednesday as the only team in baseball that had yet to score a first-inning run all season

BEST PITCHER PROPS

⚾ Jesus Luzardo [PHILLIES] OVER 6.5 Strikeouts (-110)

⚾ Jake Irvin UNDER 15.5 Pitching Outs at (-140) (vs. PIT, 6:40 PM ET)

The Lines specifically named this as one of their top MLB bets today: Jake Irvin Under 15.5 Pitching Outs at -151. Irvin has not exceeded five innings in any start this season, his xERA sits around 5.50, and he is walking into a Pittsburgh buzzsaw of left-handed bats. The Pirates’ lineup — Cruz, Lowe, Reynolds, O’Hearn — is specifically designed to destroy right-handed pitchers with those LHB tendencies. Five innings equals 15 outs, and at 15.5 the line is asking you to believe he barely squeaks past his fifth inning. He won’t. The Pirates will chase him before that happens.

⚾ Shota Imanaga OVER 5.5 Strikeouts (-110) (vs. PHI, 6:40 PM ET)

Imanaga’s 2.81 ERA is built on elite swing-and-miss and pinpoint command. The Phillies’ inability to hit left-handed pitching (.171 BA this season against LH starters per Tony’s Picks) is a direct recipe for a high-strikeout performance. While Trea Turner and Kyle Schwarber are threats, the middle and bottom of Philadelphia’s order is susceptible to Imanaga’s splitter. Back Imanaga OVER his strikeout total for this start — the matchup is simply too favorable to pass.

BEST PLAYER PROPS

🎯 Oneil Cruz [PIT] Over 2.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs at +115 (vs. WAS, 6:40 PM ET)

This is top best bet of the day, and the logic is airtight. Cruz leads off for Pittsburgh and brings a 99th percentile bat speed (78.5 mph) and 100th percentile average exit velocity (97.1 mph) to the plate against Jake Irvin — a pitcher whose xERA of 5.50 and league-high tendency to surrender home runs to left-handed bats (2.32 HR/9 vs. LHBs) creates an ideal hunting ground. Cruz will see multiple at-bats against Irvin before he likely exits, and each opportunity projects as a high-damage encounter. The combination hits + runs + RBIs at -144 is excellent expected value.

Brandon Lowe [PIT] Over 2.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs at +115

Lowe is on a heater unlike almost anyone in baseball right now. He has gone 6 for 11 with four home runs over his last three games, including a two-homer performance just Sunday. His .258 ISO against right-handed pitchers in 2025 — and a .348 ISO against right-handed fastballs specifically — makes him a nuclear bat against Irvin’s fastball-heavy approach

Yordan Alvarez [HOU] Over 2.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs at +120

Yandy Diaz [TB] Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs at -130

Diaz is hitting .365 this season — the third-best batting average in all of baseball — and goes into Wednesday on a nice stretch with 6 hits in 16 plate appearances over his last four games. He is 2 for 4 lifetime with a home run against Sean Burke, and Burke surrendered 23 home runs last year.
